March 2025 - The Bridge Home
The Bridge Home is a non-profit organization devoted to bridging the gap between homelessness and housing by providing shelter, support, and inspiring a pathway forward for individuals and families experiencing or on the verge of homelessness. Money donated will be used to provide for emergency shelter for those struggling with homelessness in Ames and Story County.

December 2024 - Boys & Girls Clubs of Story County
The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Story County is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. Money donated will be used to will equip the Boys & Girls Clubs of Story County to design the Calm Room with the specific supplies and furniture needed to ensure kids have a quality experience. Outfitted with high quality sensory games like Kinetic sand, coloring books, a color changing floor pad, and comfortable furniture, the Calm Room at the new Ames Club is a sensory space that will provide a specific area for kids to take a break and regulate their emotions.

September 2024 - All Aboard for Kids
All Aboard for Kids offers unique summer day camp programs for all students, with special focus for autistic students entering 6th-12th grade! Held at the Ames Middle School in Ames, IA, our STEAM-based programming is fun, education-based, and enriching, with opportunities designed to prevent cognitive regression, ease the transition into the next school year, encourage social skills development with peers, and promote physical activity and practice gross motor skills. Money donated will be used to help All Aboard for Kids provide their two-program Summer Day Campu progression (S.T.E.A.M. Academy and Future Focus): securing excellent staff, scholarships for participants, special guests at camp, transportation for field trips, etc.

June 2024 - One Heart Equestrian Therapy
One Heart Equestrian Therapy offers therapeutic services to individuals demonstrating physical, cognitive, mental, or emotional limitations and special needs. They work with children and adults who have been born with physical disorders or diseases, injury victims, as well as children and adults with emotional disorders and/or learning disabilities. Money donated will be used to modify One Heart's existing facility to accommodate year-round Equine Assisted Therapy Mental Health (EATMH) services and would primarily support the required mental health specialist services that partner with One Heart.

Nominate a Story County Non-Profit Organization
Members of Ames 100 Women Who Care may nominate a Story County non-profit organization for future meetings by filling out the nomination form below.
To be eligible, non-profit organizations must:

be based in the Story County area

be recognized as a 501(c)(3) organization

nominations must not be for fundraising campaigns/events, but rather for the organization as a whole
-
No national or international charities, programs or organizations will be considered as the purpose is for the contributions to stay 100% in the community (i.e. Story County).

While not required, it definitely makes a big difference when you can nominate a charity you’re passionate about supporting. Even better if you can be ready with a few reasons why we should be supporting their mission!
